MISSION STATEMENT
My experiences as a newspaper reporter, college professor, freelance journalist, and creative author have provided me with myriad opportunities to work with a broad range of personalities from all walks of life. My talents are many, my limitations few.

2010-Present Adjunct Instructor, SUNY College at New Paltz, SUNY Sullivan
- Taught sections of Composition I (New Paltz), Basic English, and Fundamentals of Speech (Sullivan)
- Worked closely with first-year and developing writers, and successfully aided them in developing writing and revision skills.
- Teaching undergraduates offered the opportunity to link writing with students’ lives, and to help them express those connections through their essays.
- Working with such diverse groups of students at both New Paltz and Sullivan has strengthened teaching and classroom management skills in a variety of settings and subjects.
- Volunteered to be a member of the Fundamentals of Speech Handbook Creation Committee, the first such committee at SUNY Sullivan.
2008 – 2010 Lead Reporter, Assistant Editor: Shawangunk Journal, Ellenville, NY
- Personally wrote 7 to 12 articles per week and proofread entire newspaper, which has a circulation of 2,200, the most innovative and ambitious publication of its type in the region.
- Successfully assisted in management of writing staff, aiding them to develop what articles they cover, and offer ideas on tracking down stories and sources.
- Regularly interacted with local, regional, and national government officials, allowing me to develop relationships with town officials, senators, and congressmen, including a personal interview with Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, and several interviews with Congressman Maurice Hinchey.
2002 – Present Freelance Writer
- Created challenging and fun question and answer cards for editions of Hasbro’s Trivial Pursuit: Bet You Know it board game.
- Provided key editorial content for Gamefan and Moviefan Magazines
- Developed a range of eclectic and witty articles for nationally distributed Geek Monthly, delving deeply into the world of geek-think, including robots, Magic Cards, Star Trek, and more.
- Produced engaging book reviews of up-and-coming medium of graphic novels for GraphicNovelReporter.com, an offshoot of BookReporter.com family of websites.
- Profiled local artists in D& H Canvas, bringing their visual works to life through words.
2005 – 2008 Adjunct Instructor, SUNY College at New Paltz, New Paltz, NY
- Taught sections of Freshman Composition (Fall 2005 – Fall 2008) and Analysis and Interpretation of Literature (Fall 2008)
- Worked closely with first-year writers, and successfully aided them in developing thinking and writing skills.
- Teaching undergraduates offered the opportunity to link literature with students’ lives, and to help them express those connections through their essays.
- Worked as a peer tutor to remedial and ESL students, often helping them convey their ideas from their own languages into English.
2004 – 2005 Agency Associate, Sheree Bykofsky Associates, Inc., New York, NY
- Worked on manuscript/proposal acquisition, critiqued manuscripts
- Author/Editor relations, correspondence, contracts, submissions, royalties
- Working at the agency gave experience of diving headfirst into the book publishing world, creating an understanding of what sells and what doesn’t.

- Publication and production of one-act play, “Around the Block,” as part of the Mohonk Mountain Stage Company’s Vanguard Voices Project in Fall 2003. “Around the Block” went on to be produced Off-Off-Broadway by the R.A.T. Theatre Company in Manhattan the following year.
